Setting Up MIME Types In Helm (Flv Example)

This article discusses how to create MIME Types for your hosted domains within the Helm control panel. We will use .flv files for this example as they are the most commonly asked about file type.

- Login to your hosting account in the Helm control panel.

- Click on "Domains".

- Choose your domain from the list of hosted domains.

- On the "Domain Menu" locate the picture icon for "MIME Types" and click on it.

- Within the MIME Type Editor click on "Add New".

- Enter the information as listed just below:

      Extension: .flv
      Content Type: video/x-flv

- Then Click the "Save" button.

After doing this you should see you have a MIME Type setup for .flv files and your flv files should run properly on your domain. You can repeat this process for any file type that is not part of IIS by default, you would just need to know the proper "Content Type" which you should eb able to find by doing a simple Google search.
